Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

'Best Oceanfront Mile on the Strand'

Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, the newest and best oceanfront mile on the Grand Strand, is what you get when you put together 300,000 nails, 10,000 bolts, 555,000 screws, and almost 800,000 feet of lumber.

After nine months of construction the new Boardwalk is now open, and ready for you to take a stroll "on the boards"!

Travel and Leisure
recently announced the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk as number two in the country, and National Geographic named it third!

This is definitely a "must-see" on your Carolina Coast Vacation!

It is just over a mile long and extends from the 2nd Avenue Pier to the 14th Avenue Pier with several places for beach access. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is definitely a fun place to hang out for dining, shopping, and entertainment.

Three different sections
makeup this outstanding Boardwalk.

The North Walkway, with it's absolutely beautiful landscaping, is the first section which starts at the 14th Avenue Pier and continues to Plyler Park at 11th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard.

The Center Section, runs from Plyler Park to 8th Avenue, is the widest section and most lively with it's beach shops, arcades, music, cafes, and oceanfront dining.

The last section, South Promenade, is a more peaceful and relaxing part of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and extends from 8th Avenue North to the 2nd Avenue Pier where you will find a nice oceanfront park.

Wait .... It Gets Even Better!

The "heart" of Myrtle Beach is overflowing with new attractions and one in particular is visible for miles.  It is the fantastic SkyWheel, the only observation wheel of its kind in the United States!

skywheel
It is set to open in May 2011, stands 200 feet tall, and has more than one million LED state of the art lights!

The wheel is made up of 42 climate controlled glass gondolas which seats up to six people.

It's a ten minute ride you will never forget. Plus, you get a panoramic view of the coastline!  I can't wait to try it out!

Jimmy Buffett's LandShark  Bar & Grille

And if that's not enough .... right next door to the SkyWheel will be home to the newest oceanfront "beach joint", Jimmy Buffett's LandShark Bar & Grille!

This is your chance to relax to great beach music with the sounds of waves crashing in the background, while you enjoy your favorite beverage and great food!  And, to make it more "beachy", most of the seating is outdoors!

After dinner, check out the wonderful gift shop for one-of-a-kind souvenirs at the LandShark Surfshack!  Also, you can enjoy a spectacular light show held every evening after dark. WOW!
